Got my PSYCH APPROVAL...YESSSSSS!!!!!!!

I went to Birmingham to the UAB CPM for my psych eval with Dr. Lokken.  I was sooo nervous.  Not to mention that while I was signing in some crazy man (really crazy) came up to the receptionist screaming 'I can't hold water and I'll be dead by the end of the day.  I HAVE to see the doctor NOW!'...Alrighty then!!!

So...I have NO CLUE as to what I was so nervous about..mainly because I knew that this would make or break my surgery.  Well...ladies and gents....IT WAS A SNAP! She told me that I was well educated and would adjust with NO problems.  She told me there was no reason for her to see me again and that she would write up her evaluation for my surgery approval IMMEDIATELY.  See, I was getting all worked up about NUTHIN.   =)

How is the 2-week diet thing?????

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!  My diet prior to surgery was soup and salads and then clear liquids.  It was not easy, but wow was it worth it.  You will do GREAT!!!!!  I am thrilled for you.

CONGRATS! WITH HAVING YOUR PSYCH APPROVAL.  YOU ARE GETTING CLOSER.  THE DIET BEFORE SURGERY IS REALLY HARD. I THOUGHT WASN'T GOING TO MAKE IT THRU, BUT THIS IS WHEN YOUR SUPPORTERS COME IN TO PLAY.  I SON'T KNOW HOW I WOULD HAVE DONE IT WITH OUT THEM AND THIS BOARD TOO.  I DONE A LOT OF EXTRA PRAYING TO GET ME THRU.  YOU WILL MAKE AND BE A HEALTHIER YOU.  GOD BLESS, VANESSA

YOUR DOCTOR WILL TELL YOU HOW LONG AND WHAT YOU HAVE TO EAT.  ONE PURPOSE OF THIS IS TO SHRINK YOUR LIVER SO THEY CAN OPERATE EASIER.

Congratulations!! So you found out you were not crazy?  That's good!    I know you will do great and I pray you get quick approval.

The 2 week diet is not easy since you haven't had your stomach fixed yet, but like others have said, keep your eye on the prize!  My surgeon allowed two-three protein shakes a day and one meal of lean meat and green vegetable.  This will help make it easier for your surgeon to work on you since he has to work up under your liver.  The diet is meant to decrease the size of your liver.  Good luck!!

Congrats on your pysch approval. I was worked up too and wondered why on earth afterwards. For me the preop diet has been challenging only because I wasn't getting enough good carbs. I ended up splitting my lean meat and non-starchy veggies over two meals and have my protein shake late afternoon before going to the gym. I've been on this since late June (we hoped to have my surgery done by now) and it has helped.

Good luck!!
