Greetings from Germany.

I arrived here early this morning. I was one of very few Americans on my flight and surprisingly there were very few Germans too. (We were greatly out numbers by people from the middle east). Everyone was very friendly and the flight was smooth and uneventful. I sat with a Chinese man who lives in Greece, works out of Jordan, and was heading to France. There was a slight language barier but I really enjoyed talking with him.

It was an over night flight. I saw the sun go down and come up. We were flying over England as the sun rose. It was very pretty. England is breath-taking from 35,000 feet...LOL.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I arrived and will be going to bed soon.. it's 10:30 here.

Oh Gina...I am soooooooooo envious.  I would love to be there.  Take pictures of the alps if you can.  I don't know what part of Germany you are in or where they are in relation to you, but that has always been my dream....every since I saw the Sound Of Music when I was a child.  YOu have a great time...but I am sure you will.  Love ya!!!

I couldnt stay asleep so I'm awake again.

We are not close to the Alps but as we drove here from the airport, I was looking at the landscape and it made me want to yodel. I didnt of course but the thought was there.

I told my daughter that one of  the villages looked like where Belle from Beauty and Beast lived. She laughed that, that village was a little upscale for Belle but said we would be able to see some very similar to where she lived.

It is very retro here.. but very pretty and full of old world charm.

Hey Louise.

At the airport, I sat with a group of 350 soldiers on thier way to Afghanistan. The woman next to me will turn 60 in January and doesnt want to retire so she is planning to get a two extension.  It was wonderful to be in the company of so many who LOVE their job and to know that any one of them is willing to take a bullet for me if need be. There was such a feeling of being peace sitting there.. a feeling that will vanish for them once they step off their plane.

The woman's name was Michelle, we exchanged email addresses and agreed to keep in touch.
Oh, I thought this was interesting... as we sat there taking a (American) man and his wife approched us and asked of our destination. He was heading to Africa. I asked if he is a missionary and he replyed "yes" and told us how many years he had lived there. Before he walked away, he thanked Michelle for all that she has done for our country and she said "No, it is I who needs to thank you". That stayed with me. How often do we thank our missionaries?

I thought I'd have pictures by now but as we drove here, I let my grandson play with the camera. He took a few pictures but I've not even checked to see what they were of. He's only 5 so his interest in photography is somewhat different from mine..LOL

Thank you. I didnt sleep well though. The time change is hard. I woke up every few hours and stayed up for an hour or so and would go back to sleep. All in all, it wasnt a bad night.. just trying to get use to the time zone.

I'm going looking for a coffee shop soon.. maybe I'll discover something new and interesting. I'll let ya know.
