I know all too well the pain you feel as I too watch as diseases and disorders and health issues wreak havoc on bodies. When times are hard just remember to smile. Your smile can bring comfort to those suffering and often help as their bodies heal or God takes them home.
I was placing a PICC for a little lady who had been stuck many times (she said over 20 times) for a regular IV. I talked with the lady the whole time I was placing the line and explained everything I was doing. When I was finished the lady took my hand and thanked me for being so gentle and kind to her. This was on a day that I had worked many long hours and felt like I was about to drop on the inside. But...my attitude..my smile and my gentleness had helped this lady and brought her some comfort. This is why I chose nursing as my profession. The love I can show others. Even when they are hurting, healing and yes sometimes dying....I want to know that I have done all I can and brought comfort. I know you understand how I feel. I didn't mean to ramble. You just got me thinking about the week I have had and the patients I have seen.
I will be praying for you and for your friends. For strength for you and for healing and mercy for your friends.
