Hi.  I have some questions.  I think I will be having surgery in September.  Can anyone tell me about their experience (pre-op screening, psych eval, diet prior to surgery, hospital stay, 1st week post op) so that I can be prepared? I am really excited, but I am also nervous.  I am a 25yr old student and Dr. Clements at UAB is my doctor.

Thanks!!

Nothing tastes as good as being thinner feels.

I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

Welcome to the Bama Board.  Dont be nervous.  Everything is going to be great.  I was in the hospital 3 days.  I have had no complications  and i had no pain.  Felt uncomfortable but not pain.  No pain meds.

How soon after surgery were you doing normal things? I ask because I am going to try to have my surgery in the middle of the week so that I can be home thru the weekend.  I am a student in college; I can miss some days but I dont need to be out like 3 weeks or anything.  Going to class would just consist of sitting and taking notes, nothing else, so i figured I should be able to do this in a week?  What do u think?

I would suggest you skip class for at least a week.  You need to be up walking and sipping but i'm not sure you would feel up to sitting for a long period of time without needing some pain medication.  Those abdominal muscles are pretty sore the first few days.
