The transfusion saved him. I went by the clinic around 11 am. He was laying down in the crate alert and started wagging his tail when he saw me. I was able to hold him and he perked up more. His gums were turning pink again and they are letting Dale bring him home tonight. They kept him there today to push iv fluids through him and keep an eye on him. We have to watch him pretty closely over the next few days and will be giving him Vitamin K pills for a while but I am not quite sure of all the aftercare yet because Dale hasn't got home yet with Oscar to fill me in. The vet had to run to another clinic and Dale is waiting for him to get back. I don't know if there will be any long term damage to Oscar but I am just so happy that he is alive. The vet said he was in pretty bad shape and that it is a good thing we took him in when we did. His hematocrit levels were at 12 and they should have been around 48.
I appreciate all of your prayers and can't wait to take a nap with my dog this evening.
