Update on stomach pain
Sooo I had self diagnosed myself thanks to webmd.com with gallstones. And was totally convinced I was going to die in pain. I broke down and went to my regular MD yesterday after spending all day Monday in pain. My reg Dr listened to my stomach and decided its not my gallbladder he said he really doesnt know what is wrong with me. Great. I know... he decided he *thinks* that my pouch is upset, maybe even something wrong with it. He said he believes that at the staple line, everytime I eat it is spasaming. He put me on 3 diff types of meds which seem to dull the pain but not make it totally go away.He said if its not better in a week to go see Dr Freeman that he doesnt really know what to do for me that it will be something that Dr Freeman will have to deal with and correct. Has anyone ever heard of this? I know my reg Dr is a good Dr but it just seemed odd he didnt do any xrays to look for stones or anything... I mean everyone has a bad day now and then maybe he was just off in his diagnosis?
Christy, I would be worried if you waited to go to the Dr. Maybe Dr. Freeman's would try & work you in if you call back & tell them how much pain you have been in.
You may need to find a new PCP. Some Family Practice doctors don't take the time to understand gastric bypass. I've been lucky, mine seems to be fairly informed & she is also good about asking me if I can tolerate this or that.

I was about to post an update on my tests & all & thought I should post to you about the doctor......
If you can't get in any sooner with Dr. Freeman (did u talk to Joyce?) Call my Gasto doctor (he used to do GBS!) You can get in quickly! I saw my Cardio yesterday & he got me in today with the gastro....I am having severe pain if I try to eat, nausea & vomitting. He is doing a barium swallow in the morning & then an EGD if needed. He also started me on 2 new meds.

5 Years Post Op
Thank goodness you're here! I've been so concerned about you. Tried to call your cell and Dan's a couple of times since Monday with no answer. Wanted to see how you were doing and to wish Dan a very happy birthday before I left for vacation Sat. Will try to call again (not tomorrow morning since you'll be having your barium swallow, maybe if I can in the afternoon. If not, I'll try on Friday.

Cristy, good luck getting to the bottom of your stomach problems. When my gallbladder went out two years ago, it did so in a matter of a few hours. Never had any pain until 2:30 one afternoon, by 7:00 that night I was on my way to the ER convinced I was dying. I was admitted, surgery was several days later because bilirubin was elevated - total hospital stay 9 days!
