I'm glad to be back home for a couple of days. I have no computer available up in the mountains so I really miss you guys.
I wanted to share with you concerning the funeral of Greg Surles - the police officer who died last Friday. His aunt told me that the funeral was packed and that it was such a beautiful service. Everyone was holding up really well until towards the end - the dispatcher's voice came across the PA system and called out Greg's badge number and then ended by saying "Retired from Service". She said everyone broke down and cried. Their baby is now 11 weeks old and that poor wife is really going to need our prayers more than ever. What a tragedy!! It makes you appreciate your family and friends even more.
I hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to check back tomorrow.
Love,

Debbie...they are precious people. I knew Greg and he was a great man. He called me several mornings at work. He patrolled the area where I work and I always get to work at least 1 1/2 hours early. Sometimes our back door is hard to close and it will pop back open. He would call if it was open and ask me if I was ok. He was that kind of person. He did his job well and truly cared about others. His uncle, Terry is our sheriff and he is also a very nice person. They are going to construct a monument to Greg. The funeral procession lasted over 30 minutes. There were cars and fire trucks from everywhere. All of us that work down the street where the procession went stood outside our offices as they passed by. We did not attend the funeral simply because there was no room. He was truly loved and so is his family by everyone in this town and in the surrounding towns. The family does need prayer to get through this. I hope everyone will give their child, husband, wife, etc a great big hug and let them know you love them and appreciate them. Thanks so much Debbie.
