Happy 4th from Kirkuk, Iraq
Mike wanted me to wish each of you a Happy 4th of July.
He got to leave work early, go to a Bar-B-Que with the civilians & then go home to his air conditioned CHU (small trailer like housing quarters). He is watching his "cable" TV & playing on the internet. He used his cell phone to call earlier.
I say all this to let ya'll know that the days of sleeping outside (for the MOST part) & eating cold MRE's are gone. They get steak & lobster AT LEAST once a week!
Today's Military men & women are there because of the CHOICE they made to be there. They are proud to be doing what they are doing & do it proudly so that WE may sit here at home & enjoy the many freedom's we have.
Happy 4th from Kirkuk & from Fort Carson!
Mike & Bonnie

Thanks Jan. The hardest sacrifice is not having them with you. I try not to dwell on the danger, we are both firm believers that when it is your time, it's your time, no matter where you are!
I am hanging in there. I have my good days & my bad days. The dx my specialist was expecting is inconclusive. They are treating me anyways then when it shows it is not fixing the problem, he is ordering another test, which will support my need for surgery. ughhhhh!! lol.....Hurry up & wait...the story of my LIFE!!
You have a awesome 4th!

Bonnie please tell Mike that we all said Happy 4th and a big ole Thank you. Last year at this time my son was sitting in Tikrit. This year I have home with me and will be celebrating his birthday today which was yesterday. People just don't realize the sacrifices that these men and women make to give us our freedom. I am so proud of my son and his daddy who was a combat vet in Vietnam. These men and women have lasting effects that goes with them for the rest of their lives and affects the whole family. Hope that you have a good 4th also. I know that you are counting down the days until Mike will be home.
Hey my friend! So good to see you on here. PLEASE tell Mike I salute him and THANK YOU for all that he and our Military do. Praise God they get good meals. My nephew told me they did eat good over there and they were WELL taken care of. Thank you for this post. I salute ALL our Military men and women who serve our country by choice. They deserve the BEST of everything! Love ya and I sure do miss you! God bless!
