I have been thinking about this for the past hr or so..... Is it more ignorant to not know something or to make fun of someone who does not know something? To not know something & be "ignorant"....there are several possibilities Learning disability Never taught Did not care to learn it The list can go on.... To make fun of someone for not knowing something, now that is a concious ignorant choice.  You know it is wrong You know it is mean You do not care if you hurt the person Is it a feel better about yourself thing? Is it payback for being made fun of for being overweight? Is it just the way you roll? I suppose, when we were overweight, we were each "ignorant" to what we were doing to our bodies. Being made fun of hurt & it hurt badly. I am quite sure that no one alive appreciates being made fun of for weight. Amazingly, the same goes for other people that may be "ignorant" about other things. Not meaning to start anything, just wanted to throw the question out there for some who may not of considered "wearing someone else's shoes"!

There is a line in Shakespeare's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE that goes something like, "Even the gods bow in the face of stupidity," meaning even the gods have no clue what to do about it. I think making fun of people's weight or making unkind comments are simply mean.  There is no one who can be that ignorant or that stupid, so I believe they are just mean. I don't know why the human race seems to want to be hurtful to each other.  Not everyone does, of course, and there are many, many wonderful and kind people.  But those unkind ones, they do seem to get around and they are very vocal, as if they are proud of their stupidity and want everyone to know. There's another saying, "It is better to be silent and be thought a fool that to speak up and remove all doubt." Of course, I am the one speaking at the moment, so no telling what is being thought of my words.  LOL
