I don't know about ya'll, but I don't care for the taco seasoning you buy in the packets.  It's just too salty for me and leaves a taste that seems to stay with me too long.  So I looked for some recipes to make it myself and this is what I found: Taco Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Store in airtight container and use to simmer in hamburger meat, chicken, etc.

This sounds good. I think the ready made has way too much sodium in it!!

Thank you Kay.  I find the packaged stuff too salty, and it does leave an oniony/garlicy after taste.  Never stopped me from using it though.  Now I can make my own! Debbie
