Good Morning All, I am on the road to becoming a bander with Dr. Schmitt. I do have a question as I sit here and enjoy drink ing my large cup of morning coffee...realizing the limitations of the band and accepting them, will I still be able to have a full cup of coffee in the morning?  Thanks for your replies and here's to a beautiful Alabama day!

I am not a lapbander (Nanci--mom2Italiangirls) is a bandster and usually is on later in the day and at night so she might answer better.  BUT I had Vertical BANDED Gastroplasty which is a form of banding.  I can drink coffee with the best.  I can drink a full cup of coffee but I do drink it slowly.  Our pouches/bands are like funnel.  The liquid run through quicker where as solid or heavier foods take longer to go through which is where the fullness comes from. I am not a bander, either...I am a gastric bypass.  However, when I give parties with the coffee bar set up, I don't notice that anyone has any problems drinking coffee.  I make 60 cups for a party and seldom have more than 2 or 3 left in the pot.  I do believe that when my stomach is a little uneasy, the heat of the coffee helps to relax it.  I drink a lot of coffee and have found that most of us on here do.
