We have a HUGE problem here with poison ivey.  I can not stand it!  I took all of it I could take.  I was sitting on the porch swing with coffee in hand, relaxing, listening to birds and Skeeter was in the swing with me (our 10 year old Border Collie).  I looked at that poison all I could!  I adorned myself with long pants, long socks, good shoes, long sleeve shirt and went to work!  I had electric hedge trimmers so I didin't have to touch it, till I got through cutting it that is! The stuff was REALLY  taking over!  It was growing in the boards of the house!!  With gloves on, I pulled that stuff down.  It was on 3 walls of the side of the house.  NOW!  It is all down!  I worked for an hour till I was just too give out.  LOL  PLEASE! PLEASE PLEASE help me pray I was covered and protected enough.  I sure don't want to have poison while in Minnesota!  WHAT WAS THIS DUMMY THINKING???!!

He sure does don't HE?  He sure takes care of THIS dummy!  HEHEHEHE  I prayed the enitre time.  I reminded God of how He gave us dominion over every living thing.  Poison lives and I HAVE DOMINION OVER IT!  Not vice versa!  I got a good shower and I am feeling good.  Just chilling and relaxing.  I reminded myself that this house will be here when I get back.  LOL  Love ya too my friend!  I'm enjoying some awesome Jamaica Me Crazy coffee now.  It is SOOOO good!

Dear Randall, God gave us dominion over every living thing but he also gave us common sense. Use it. You wouldn't try to pet a rattlesnake just because you have dominion over it, would you.  Please be careful  you  have been so much healthwise lately I hate to see you putting yourself in harms way. Now I won't fuss anymore. I'll just say to enjoy yourself in yankeeland and remember they can't have you. We've got first dibs on you. Love, Aunt Mary

The Friday before Mother's Day, I took off to clean out my Mom's flower beds.  One of them had a good patch of poison oak.  Mom warned me to stay out of it, but I couldn't leave that part untouched.  I thought, "I'll be OK...I'll wash well when I finish"....well, 3wks, 2 doctors (regular PCP and then the dermatologist), 2 steriod shots AND 2 rounds of steroids by mouth (the last one in HUGE doses) later, it finally dried up.  The dermatologist told me it was the "worst case" she'd ever seen.  (And she's at UAB, so I'm guessing she sees alot???).  I was allergic, apparently, tho I'd never had any problems with it before.

Both docs gave me good advice - 1st, stay away from it, lol...then both told me if I thought I'd been in contact with it, to wash with rubbing alcohol because that's the only thing that cleans the resin off.  Oh, and the derm told me to wash my clothes with a cup of baking soda, that neutralizes it.  She also said I could add a cup to a bath and bathe in it, just for good measure.

Good luck Randall - I pray you don't have an episode like I did, LOL.

One positive - if you DO break out, you can show those Yankees what it looks like (I've heard it's not a problem up north???)
