Looking for a WLS Support Group in the Montgomery, AL area

I had WLS on 4-15-08 in Birmingham.  I haven't been able to attend a support group or aftercare program because gas is not cheap and it's over 80 miles away.  I am currently looking for a WL support group in the Montgomery area.  If anyone has any info, please respond ASAP. Andrea

Welcome to the Board. We used to have a quite active support group but unfortunately I had to step back due to my work schedule. Gail (Dakota's Mom) and Randall Culpepper can help you out with info. I know that we will get together to meet for dinner now and then but they can tell you about any support group meetings.

Hey Andrea, I go to the dinners that the Montgomery Area has and i come here for support.  Gail and Randall may be able to help you out.

Hi Andrea, While there is not currently an active support group in Montgomery we do have dinners occassionally where we all come together. Randall sets these up most of the times so look for future posts.  There is a surgeon in Prattville, AL who last I heard hold support groups at the Doster Center. You might want to contact his office to verify they still meet. Dr. P. Mora. His number is (334) 361-6126. I have attended one of his meeting and they are wonderful. They used to be on the last Monday of every month but like I said please call their office to confirm if they are still meeting and when. Congrats on your surgery and I hope all is well!
