Hello everyone. I have been waiting for my referral from my PCM to go through to Tricare and I got it yesterday. It was for Cahaba Valley Surgical Center in Alabaster. I have heard really good reports about them except their wait time for appts. When I called they said I should move through pretty quick since Tricare is one of the easier ins to work with. I was wondering if anyone has used them recently (since having 4 Dr.'s) and wondering how long it took to process paperwork and get an appointment. The man on the phone said I might be able to do everything in about 8 weeks but based on the blogs I have seen from people who went there it seems to take as least that long just to be seen. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.  I don't know anything about your Dr.'s since I am in south Al.  I just wanted to say I am glad you are about to start this wonderful journey.  Keep us informed so we can enjoy it with you.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to say I am thrilled for you and would love to hear your updates as you progress forward.  My doctor was Bryan Freeman in Anniston and he got us through as soon as we went through all of the consults and exams and of course the initial conference.  It normally does not take too long.  I wish you all the best.

It shouldnt take you to long once you do what your insurance required.  I had a Tubal done at the same time and i had to get my 2 drs together on the same day.  My husband and son wanted to be with me so i also had to wait for HUNTING Season to end.

First of all WELCOME!!!  And congrats on getting your referral and beginning your amazing journey!! The Cahaba Valley Surgical Group is awesome. I know several people who had their surgeries there including my Best Friend who used Dr. Gardner. She loved him. I think Randall used a surgeon from there as well. I don't know how long it will take but my sister has Tricare and she had her surgery in 2005 and it only took her a few months to move through everything. (she used a doctor at Brookwood though) I am praying for you and if we can help you in any way just post!!  Keep us updated on your progress.

Congratulations!! I used TRICARE Prime..DH is retired Army. I asked to be put on a cancellation list in order to get in faster at my surgeon's office in Huntsville. My seminar was in November 2005 and my GBS was December 13, 2005......FAST!!!! Just let me say...TRICARE has been wonderful for me!! They paid for my panniculectomy as well. I have only good things to say about TRICARE. Good luck to you.

Thank you all so much for your support. I have been primarily lurking until I got the ball rolling. I know this is a life changing experience but we have had a lot of that in the past 2 years and I'm ready to do this for me. I want to be a healthy active mom of triplets... not a mom who doesn't want to take them out because I get overheated handling three or won't go to the pool because I'm so concerned about being looked at. I'm tired worrying about my borderline diabetes but also ducking pictures for the last decade... ITS TIME . God Bless you all for your commitment to yourself and others traveling down this road to a better life.
