Doesn't hurt at all!  When i went for mine I was so fascinated by all the wires attached to me I couldn't sleep.  They finally gave me an Ambien.  One word of caution - the room is PITCH BLACK.  Attached to the forefinger of one hand was a little monitor with a red light on the end.   I had a great time writing my name in the dark and watching the light show.  I played ET and kept pointing and saying, "ET phone home!".  After a few minutes a nurse came in.  I forgot they were watching me on a tv monitor!!!  I asked, "were you watching that?", she smiled and said, "yes".  I quietly went to sleep after that...... Oh that is so funny, maybe that is one of the reasons that I am nervous, being watched while I am asleep. lol or it could be the cost of and getting used to the cpap which I really hope that I don't need.. Thanks, John for the reply, and the laugh!  Jan

The sad/good thing was I did indeed have sleep apnea and got a cpap machine.  It DID improve my sleep.  Two weeks after my surgery it went back in the box and back to the drug store.  I didn;t need it anymore!

John,That is wondeful that you didn't need it after surgery, but how did you know?  I don't know that I can use a cpap, I have got to find a alternative treatment. Thanks, Jan

I took the cpap with me to the hospital for my wls surgery and used it there.  Came home, continued to use the machine.   As the pounds started dropping I kept having to have the drugstore guys over to my house to adjust the air flow on the machine - it was originally at one of the highest settings.  Finally it was barely a trickle of air and after consulting my PCP, we decided I could hang it up.  I think i had used it a grand total of five maybe six weeks!
