Hi Bama Board  I was told i would need a bone density scan (DEXA SCAN) every year after WLS.I had my first one in November 05 and waited 2 and 1/2 years to get another one done, had it done last week and got the results today. I have Osteopenia witch is thinning of the bone due to the like of minerals in the bone wich leads to ostoperosis. pleas have one alest every 2 years if not every year.I have had a complet hysterectomy and am not on any hormon replacment haven't been for 5 year because the Dr said they did not use it to prevent ostoperosis any more and was worried that i was not getting enough calcium . You have to ask Dr. to do them they want remined you you need it done.Men who have had WLS need to have it done to. Pamela D.

Mine is scheduled for the 24th.  Making it a double header.  Boobie squeeze in the morning and bone scan in the afternoon.

Hi Pat I'm not Pam but I wanted to jump in and say HELLO.  I never can make it over to the meetings--I work at the paper that night.  I want to invite you to join us at the Olive Garden Saturday June 14th at 4PM CST.  Several from the board are getting together for a Dothan Dinner.  Hope to see you there. My ob/gyn recommended for me to get one last year (because I turned 40) as a base for later on but Dr. Freeman never said anything about one ( I don't think).  My bcbsofal didn't cover it of course.  But oh well!  So do they think the vitamin deficiency from wls caused the Osteopenia or your hysterectomy?  Do you take your calcium daily?
