If you were allowed to take the book of your faith (Bible, Prayer Book, Koran, etc,) and only one other book with you into a new life, what book would it be?

Gosh, that's a hard one. The way I cook it should probably be a cookbook. But the best book I've ever read was the uncut version of Stephen Kings THE STAND.  The theme of nearly all his books, good verus evil. With Good winning in the end. Love, Miss Mary

I'm not a big reader...so, I would have my KJV Bible and probably one of my devotional books.

It would have to be my personal journal, so I could remember where I been, and chart where I'm going.

I'd have to agree with some of the others.  I would have to take a picture book full of pictures of my family and of course my GRANDSON!  Lots of those.  LOL

I've thought about this for awhile.  I have many, many books.  The books on subject matter, I would most likely know and could remember...I would not have to have them to refer to, as it is doubtful that I would have to cite anything or have an exact quote...so they would be just a burden.  I would not take a picture album, because I tend to carry people in my heart and cannot really relate to pictures.  I have no problem remembering them without their pictures.  I pretty much know how to cook; although, I would miss my cookbook collection badly.  The novels that I have read that meant something to me, I carry the stories in my memory, so I could retell myself the stories, if I wanted to...or I could make up new ones.  So my final choice would be my survival skills book.  It has all the information on how to build a shelter, develop weapons for hunting, first aid instructions, some recipes: basically, a little of everything in it...and it is light weight and easily to carry.  I would carry the small Bible that I have, as it will provide me with stories, moral instruction, and inspiration.  So with those two, I think I could survive almost anything.  I would also take my truck, because my survival gear is loaded in the tool box behind the cab...even the dog has a little selection of stuff in there.  I taught survival camping when I was in my early 20s.
