surgery in Mexico post op in Alabama

Hi everyone I am new here and was wondering if you may can help a friend of mine. My ins. will cover the lap-band but my friend's won't and she is considering self pay and the cheapest route is Mexico, while we have researched it and are at ease with the surgery part we are having trouble finding post op care and port fill in Al especially north and north central Al. we have found a port fill center in Chatanooga which will not be too far, but finding a Dr. close by to over see post op care is proving more difficult. Does anyone know of a dr. in north or central Al that takes patients they did not perform the surgery on? Thank all and God Bless.

Hi!    I really don't have any info for you but I wanted to say hello.  I had lapband with Dr. Miles and LOVED HIM and I LOVE MY LAPBAND!!!   I have lost over 60lbs since August and I feel GREAT!! I go to the lapband boards frequently and they have this discussion pop up a good bit so you may want to post there as well.  What I have read about getting US fills with a Mexican based surgery is that most US docs do not want to take on the liability should something go "wrong". But, this is a hot topic and I am sure a more knowledgeable person can help you guys out.   I wish you and your friend luck with your research.  My surgery has been a blessing and I wish for you two the same.
