Question of the Day
I would want to split mine up into 2 different donations.
#1 ~ 1/2 goes to UAB and their Charity Care. When I was very ill with my Cancer, they didn't say to me "since you dont have insurance how are you going to pay" like some other Drs and hospitals have said in my past. They took me approved my for Charity Care and gave me the best of care anyone could have. They never looked down on me, not one time. they treated me with the up most respect and was very helpful. I had 2 surgeries within 28 days of each other. The staff their took extremely good care of me and I am so glad I was in the hands of UAB and Dr. Huh, Gynicalogical Oncalogist. I would give part of my $$$ to them so that they can continue to help other people that have no insurance and cant afford to pay hospital bills but need medical help.
#2 ~ The other 1/2 of the $$$ would go to American Cancer Society to help with RELAY FOR LIFE. 3 months after my surgeries ther was a RELAY FOR LIFE walk here in our local park. I never knew what it really was all about but my youngest sons teacher told him to tell me about it and ask me to meet her there. So we went and it was great. They asked all of the survivors to go to the mic and tell everyone the type of cancer and how long we have been a survivor. Then we were given shirts and a ballon. We put on the shirts got in a line and walked the entire track with our ballon in hand, once everyone was at the end we all released our ballons. It was a great event that ment the world to me. It was that day that I knew God had really been watching over me and it was by his choice that I was there that day and not taken off this earth. I want to help others, like they helped me. They really do so much for people, there is allot they do that folks have no idea about!

My home church would be first. This one church has been there for me since I was a very small child.
As a cancer survivor myself I would have to donate a portion to American Cancer Society. My mother passed away after a fight with small cell lung cancer. Without research donations new treatment options might not become available.
Lastly I would have to donate heavily to Hospice. They are angels on earth. They help ease the pain not only for the patient but also of the families. They are there 24/7. They provide so much more than health services and operate on limited funds.
First and formost I would help our homless vets. Most as you know have PTSD, the big reason that they live on the streets. Most of these men and women was in Vietnam and when they got home did not get the help that they needed. A lot different toady than then. Ever body that is in the military today signed up to be there. Our Vietnam soldiers did not ask as most were drafted. I was in the VA clicnic and heard a young person demanding treatment. They signed up to go in the military and never set one day off American soil. Now they want the government to take care of them for life when they asked to be there. As my sons says about going to Iraq he asked for it by joining the Navy. Enough said.
I would have to agree with Elle! I would give back to Him through the Church. When we do that, we are blessed. Then I would have to give some to the ARDS Foundation. Accute Respriatory Syndrom. I am a survivor of it but this is one thing that caused Joie's death. ARDS has a 40% mortality rate. Awesome question Karla. Thanks!

This is a great thread!
I would first give back to God throught the church. Next, I would give to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, whose treatment and research helps so many children facing cancer and other devestating illnesses. I would then give a portion of it to my parents, who have done so much for us. And finally, I would set aside enugh for my children to attend college or trade school, so they could finish their educations without being saddled with debt.
