It wasn't me
There was a bus wreck in Marshall County this morning, same system I drive for but it wasn't me. None of the 15 children or the driver was hurt. The bus was going up the hill and a truck was coming down the hill(near Joppa, outside of Arab) The truck was used for finishing concrete. The bus driver saw the truck was coming over into her lane(over a thousand feet away) she pulled off the road as far as possible(deep ditches) and completely stopped. The truck hit right behind the drivers seat and went all the way to the back tire, blew the tire and peeled back the rim, and broke the axel. Then spun around and went a couple of hundred feet and slammed into a concrete pumping truck. Med flighted one passenger in the smaller truck and the driver and two men in the large truck was taken to local hospital. Don't know how true it is but someone said one man died at hospital. If you ever wonder about the safty of your children on the school bus this should reassure you. Not a single child was injured. One little girl was taken to the hospital and checked out because she has a metal plate in her head. She was okay. The truck was doing between 55 and 65. The driver said he must have fallen asleep. Of course the rumor is he was texting someone. A man in a BMW that was behind the bus credited the bus driver with saving his life. When she put her brakes on and started getting off the road he knew something was wrong. Even tho he could not see anything in front of the bus he pulled over also and the bus shielded him When the truck hit the bus tire it spun it back into the lane and missed the BMW by inches. The tire marks of the car were all on the wrong side of the road and the only part of the bus left on the road was from the back tires to the bumper. Accident report says no brakes were applied by the truck.
The bus driver is a fine Christian woman and she went right to the hospital and was drug and alcohol tested. Checked on the three men who were at that hospital then drove a field trip. Please remember all these people in your prayers tonight and Thank God that it was no worse than it was.
Thank you for the prayers. Love, Miss Mary
Miss Mary, I am so glad this was no worse than it was. I know everyone involved was very shook up over the accident but tonight they can give thanks to God for life!! I am also glad it didn't involve our Miss Mary!! I have worked in the school system for almost 20 years and there are two jobs they could not get me to do. One is a cafeteria worker and the other is bus driver. Take it easy this weekend and get some rest!!
