Last night after I ate dinner I began having this sharp stabbing pain at the top of my stomach.  It was all I could do to get into the bed.  Then the pain went to my back where it is at now.  I know something is not right, my body feels awful.  I have lost 113 pounds since my surgery in october.  the only complication I had was that I have had kidney stones.  It took the last one three weeks to pass.  And I was told that my body will make more because of the gastric bypass.  I guess a kidney stone could make me feel like this, but I am getting worried.  The pain is intense, but because of my last kidney stone i can not take off of work.   Has this happened to anyone else?  Does anyone know what it could be?

Bless your heart Mandi! I hope you are feeling a little better now. As far as the pain, you say it is in your back, what side? Is it on the left side or right side, about shoulder blade height? It could be a terrible attack of gas but it also could be a multitude of things. Try some Gas-X or Phazyme and see if it relieves the pain. Sometimes if we eat too fast or something that does not agree with us, it can stay that way for awhile.  If the gas meds do not take care of the problem, be sure to keep a detailed account of your pains and when they occur and if it occurs after eating and what not. Don't let the pain continue on too long without consulting Dr. Mora.  Please keep us updated! Good to see you posting and congratulations on the outstanding weight loss! Love, Gail

Hi Mandi! I'm sorry you're having this pain.  Do you still have your gall bladder?  You really do need to check with your doctor if this continues.  I hope you feel better soon!

How are you feeling now? Did the pain go away? As the others indicated, it can be a multitude of things but the first thing that came to my mind is gallbladder, although an irritated pouch and/or severe gas pain is much more common.  I know you said you cant afford to take off work but your health comes first. You wont be much use to your employer if you are in intense pain so if it continues, call your doctor.
