Topic: RE: OT- Is anyone from the Delta Junction area? Moving there soon.
we dont live in delta..sorry. my husband is military and we live in north pole. sorry to tell you that there are no malls much less real stores in delt. you would either go to fairbanks or anchorage. there is a small commissary on greeley. thiings in Delta: 2 banks with atms 3 beauty/barber shops 1 dentist library 3 laundry maps a massage place video rental tanning places for shopping there are the gift shops and atv stores and tires stores and the meat companies a few gas/mimi marts fabric store garden center and hardwear store. there are a few places to stay lots of places to camp and a few local places to eat. it is really beautiful there. it is really the end of the road so to say. because it is the end of the alcan highway. if you like the out doors it is great. summers make the winter worth it! hopes this helps. if you have any more questions let me know and i will try to help

Camai, So how did it go? I hope you are adjusting well. I started feeling a little more normal during my second week. I see that the Alaska board is very slow going. I am in Texas right now, but we are planning to move to Delta Junction in August. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Angela

My husband has accepted an IT job on Ft. Greeley and we will be moving to Delta Junction probably at the end of this summer. We are currently living in Austin TX, so this will be a huge change. I have lots of questions about this move. Is there a local place you can buy supplements and protein or does everyone order online? Are there local grocery stores or do you have to go to Fairbanks and stock up? Does Ft. Greeley have a commissary? We are military right now, but we won't be once my husband takes this job. However, with the military contract he will still have some priviledges. We also have 2 young children and I am wondering what there is to do. Our family has become accustomed to eating dinner at restaurants and going to movie theatres or the mall on a regular basis. We are looking forward to spending more time at home as a family. Also, what's the drive like to Fairbanks and can you easily make the drive year round? I have found information on other locations in Alaska, but I would love to talk to someone who actually lives near Delta Junction. Thanks, Angela

Oops, didn't realize your post was from October. So you are setted in by now. I would love to hear all about the move and life in Alaska. I'll check your profile to see if you blog about it. Thanks so much!

Danni, I am currently in Austin TX and my husband accepted a job in Delta Junction AK. We won't be moving until the end of the summer though. I will be watching this forum like crazy to help me prepare and I would love to hear from you since you are also coming from TX. Good luck on your move. I hope Alaska is as wonderful as it appears to be from the internet! Perhaps we'll meet at the Fairbanks support group! Sincerely, Angela

Topic: Riding my bike
As a volunteer clown, participating in functions to help children, I often ride one of those silly little bikes where my knees are above the handle bars. As a chubby clown I had problems riding them. As a slim downed clown the small bikes are much easier although I prefer my carbon frame, Kestrel Road Bike now. Now that I am almost to my goal I plan to spend the next ten years riding my bike in events across the USA. The plan is to ride in five events each year which will give me whole USA after ten years. There are many bike rides sponsored annually by worthy charitable organizations. Riding my bike will allow me to help others while helping myself maintain my newfound slimness. I wanted to commit to this on the state forums as a reminder to myself that the surgery is only the first step; a life-style change is imperative if I want to maintain. I intend to do that on my bike. Kim
