Topic: RE: Newbie - Had Surgery on Tuesday
Hi Rebecca73,
I understand the unhappiness after the surgery,, I had my surgery almost one month ago, In two days will be one month and even though my energy is WAY up,, im cranky and crabby! It feels like I have PMS all the time, I think it the hormone fluctuation going on after the surgery,
I was on 3 insulins and byetta, and 2 antideppresants, 2 statins, 1 metformin, and lisinipril (blood preesure meds) and a sleeping pill at night,, now I take nothing, but lots of chewable vitamins and protein,, I think we are making such major lifestyle changes that its hard to be peppy all the time. I think this sadness will pass, and I will pray for you! My name is Rebekah too. I was born in 73 so mabey we have this in common,, Talk to you soon and keep your head up.. Good job on the surgery! Rebekah

welcome to the boards! hey give yourself a break you just had major surgery! you are going to get tired easy. i felt really good the first 2 days but them i was tired all the time. i took naps and took it easy. it took me 6 weeks to be back at full speed. just dont push your self and listen to your body if you feel tired rest or just sit down and put your feet up. keep up your liquids!

Topic: Newbie - Had Surgery on Tuesday
I just came home this morning after having RNY on Tuesday morning, along with gall bladder removal and liver biopsy. I was so excited. I feel great. I haven't needed any pain medication in 2 days. I get around easilyThis was much easier than I expected. But, I am sitting here at home and I'm feeling very sad, and don't really understand why. I am so determined to make this work. I just wish I still felt as happy as I did a week ago.

Sorry to hear about no coverage on the insurance. The same thing happened to me. I went ahead and had the surgery anyway. It has been worth it. I still have a long way to go, but it has been a start for me on my journey. I had mine done in Nashville, TN. The initial surgery was about $17500. Although, following surgery I received another bill from Vanderbilt for about $7000.00 more. This was routine stuff the doctor checked for during surgery like how was my gall bladder, etc. I thought it was totally unnecessary but what choice did I have while I was under the knife! Anyway, expect to pay about 25,000+ with the exams, doctor appointments, fills, etc. Hopefully, you will find a way to afford the surgery. Maybe go with a finance company or something. Good luck!
Topic: If only I had known about this before my surgery
if only this was still available to us today...well I suppose it is if you go to some third world country and are careless.
