Awesome! We got here Oct 4th. I'm just not used to this kind of weather....not to mention, I want to eat more!    I'm borde!  Its driving me nuts!  Is there a support group at the hospital?

And the valley is wasilla and palmer area...we live in Palmer.  its nice and quiet, but also very cold and windy. Plus I want to move on base where we are close to work!! LOL

hi ashley, no, i'm not military.
there are several here who do bariatrics now, but the support is closed to people who they didnt provide for. its all about the $$ it seems. we're penalized if we didnt go to them.
we could start our own you know..sort of a think tank, sharing, and research.
i had appts with todd and searles. for reasons of my own i went elsewhere. i've gone to todds group meetings but i left each time quite irritated because all the group talked about was basically how to cheat on their diets.  This was some time ago and maybe its changed but personally i didnt find much 'support' there. I hope its changed because there a lot of people here now who have had it and NEED support.

HI everyone, wanted to introduce myself.  I have already been asking some of you questions, I don't mean to bother....I have just not been able to find a good support system since i have been here.   By the way, i'm Ashley...I'm a Dental Asst. on base, I have 2 kids, and I live in the Valley.....for now, I had Gastric Bypass.    My weight is still coming off, but has reached the plateau stage, where its slowly shedding.   I have gone from 242 to 162 since April 1st, 2008. But I am truthfully terrified of gaining.  But I feel like I don't have anyone around like me to keep me on track.    SOOoooo, If anyone is ever interested in gathering for a Pow-wow, hit me up!!!

HI you guys. I'm still very new here, and I have been looking for support groups as well, but have found no luck! Its just not what I'm used to I guess.   I thought one of you were military, Does Elmendorf Hosp. have anything? Have you seen anyone in Bariatrics there?  I haven't made an appt yet to get in there, I was wondering what to expect.  Are they knowledgeable at least?  


Sorry to ask so many questions, I just feel myself slipping out of a good routine, I'm not eating very good. But I think its because I don't have that support here.

Hey everyone!

  I have not posted in a long while.  I was mainly on the "main board" but things got so nasty there I left for a bit
 I NEED BUDDIES!  


  Well, I had my lap band on Nov.2nd 2007.  In Oct 2008, I found I had a terrible slip!!! 
  I was immediately put into the hospital and the next morning, I had surgery!
  I got to keep my lap band!  Just a new one.
  Well, Jan. 14th I get to go in for my first fill! 

  I have made terrible food choices .... spent a few weeks in Central America where my husband's family refused to let me do ANYTHING!!!!!  Not even sweep a floor! 
  Do I need to say it??  I have gained so much weight!  About 20 pounds!  OUCH!
 
  I cannot wait until the 20th!!!

Anyone live in the Chugiak, ER, Peters Creek area?  Wanna get some coffee sometime? 

  Have kids?  Mine are 3 ...... maybe they can play together!
