Topic: Hello from Louisiana

I just wanted to say how beautiful your state is.  I have dreamed about visiting for 33 years.  We have been back a week from our cruise....I know that there is so much more to see than what we did...but we had a blast.  I hope someday to get more photos from there...of the landscape and wildlife so that I can paint them.
Again,  I had a great time and maybe one day I can return and visit again.

Topic: Not the best way to lose 10 pounds in 3 days

I had an eye opening experience this week. I was reminded the hard way that after having this surgery, we will always be different. ER Physicians, friends, coworkers, employers, relatives, even some other post ops, might not realize this but it is true. Certain things will always affect us differently and there are certain foods that might agree with us one minute and make us horribly ill the next.
I hate to vomit, as a child I would say, "ooh how gross" or as I got older, "this is disgusting", when I would find myself being sick. I have found that since my surgery, if I eat something that my pouch doesn't like, I will most prob. vomit. I have a small but ever present (cue the jaws music) fear of this happening so I eat very clean when I am at work, out with friends, and at any celebration or event. I guess this is kind of a good thing. I also had a penchant for projectile vomiting before the surgery and lets just say, it hasn't lessened any post operatively.
Usually however, once I vomit, I feel much better. Kinda disgusting but true.
Not so this week however.
I had purchased a grill for my husband for our 5th anniversary present. He decided to treat me to some grilled fish. He over cooked it. In his defense, he hasn't grilled in forever and really tried to cook it nicely, he just suffers from the cook any animal protein to death syndrome.
In my desperate attempt to make my husband feel appreciated for trying to cook me a nice dinner on his new toy, I ate the fish even though it was almost rubbery in places.
I felt sick, then I felt I was going to vomit. I did and thought I felt better and it was all over with. I went to bed only to wake up chocking on my own saliva. I had to run to the sink to vomit more. The next morning, I couldn't even keep water down. I called into work and stayed home vomiting all day while Lilith was at school and Will was at work. By the time they got home, I must have looked pretty bad because Will insisted that we go to the ER. We went. We sat in the lobby for 2 hours before being taken into the back. I vomited into the public bathroom trash a few times during that 2 hours of waiting. I am sure this looked very charming to the other patients.

Topic: New here and I eat for comfort.
my husband is gone to camp (gold mine) and I eat.  I seem to eat everything I can.  I don't want to but I do.  I want to be active.  I have lost about 50lbs before on WW but, then I got Pregnant.  I have gained about 35 lbs in the 6 mos after our son was born.  (never gained a # while pregnant, due to GD)  That just makes me feel worse.  I know I can do it...but I can't seem to say no.  It's like my body moves without me telling it to.  I understand my husbands addiction so much better now, that I realize what mine is.  I am an OVEREATER.  I can feel that I am full but I just want to taste something so bad.  this is the first time I have ever been REALLY honest about it.  I seem to be looking for a "high" or a "perfect" food....like I am craqving something and i don't know what it is.   With 3 kids around eating right doesn't come easy.  Please help me find my way.

Topic: distorted body image!

One of my husbands friends just e-mailed us an old photo of us pre WLS.  This one was taken before I had my daughter but after I had lost 60 some odd pounds on Nutrisystem and actually thought I looked "good"!   All I can say is, "THANK GOODNESS FOR WLS!"   Not just for myself but for my husband too!

Is there anyone here on POW? I'm looking and hoping to have a lap-band. It's a small world, so I hope there are people out there to share with.

Topic: Stay away from this!
Monster Energy in Chai HaiBlame it on the husband. He brought me the first can! Then he told me where he found it, then as fate would have it, we ended up moving within blocks of another location that sold it. I love this stuff. It is so very bad for me too with 14 grms of carbs, 13 grms of sugar, 1.5 grms of fat (1 grm is saturated), 90 calories, and only 4 grms of protein, and that is per serving! There are 2 servings per 15 fl oz can. I don't dump on this, maybe it would be better if I did. It is wasted calories. Sure, it has some added vitamins; calcium 152 mg, Vit A 80 IU, Vit C 30 mg, Vit D 30 IU, Potassium 125 mg, Vit B2 1.7 mg, Vit B3 20 mg, Vit B6 2 mg, and Phos 100mg. I don't think there are enough of the however to justify the sugar and the carbs however. Luckily or unluckily (depending on how you choose to look at it), the store nearest me has stopped carrying it. I am so addicted to the stuff that I actually e-mailed the folks at Monster to find out if it had been discontinued. They replied that it hasn't, just that it is only available in limited markets. Husband bless his well meaning heart, found a service station that happens to be one of those "limited markets". My advice if you see this...stay away..don't try it.. it tastes like sweet cream (even though it is made with reduced fat milk) and goes down super smooth so it is just too easy to drink the whole can (26 grms of sugar)in one sitting! Just because I don't dump on it, (remember I am almost 3 years post op) doesn't mean you won't!
