Glad everything went well for you! I was recently in the ICU there and my care was great also.
Be sure to come to our support meetings the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month - we're mostly Dr. Todd patients but everyone is welcome! The meetings are at the Cancer Treatment Center on the FMH campus at 7:00 pm - Andrew usually posts on here about them.

....and everything is great! Dr. John Mayer performed my surgery and has been GREAT! I wanted to recouperate at home, not for 10 days in Anchorage. I am very happy and the care at FMH is the BEST! We are so lucky to have a hospital of this caliber in Fairbanks.

Topic: RE: Question
Dr. Searles and Dr. Todd both do many types of bariatric surgery including RNY, Duodunal switch and banding. Since the VSG shapes the stomach like the duodunal switch, I think they both would be capable, they would just need to be contacted to see if they were willing.
Topic: Question
I have a friend who just moved to Alaska and she is interested in getting the vsg, are there any Drs in Alaska who does this surgery. thanks for all the info u can give me...
Topic: RE: Opinions on Dr. Todd
Dr. Todd seems to be good, His staff is going through some changes right now. They have a tendency not to follow through. He has very recently hired a new nurse who is very competent so there's hope that the office will be improving. I have heard very good things about Dr Searles also, and I would check out both.
Topic: RE: Local or lower 48
We did make him aware as soon as we were allowed to by the staff. Unfortunatly, alot of us go to lunch after the support group meetings and our story is not unique. Many people who live in Anchorage have had the same experience. We all agree that Dr. Todd seems great, but his staff is a major drawback. Dr. Todd is working to change his staff, he has recently hired a nurse who actually has a brain and follows through when she says she will, but they are on a tough learning curve and peoples health is at stake. They need to pull it together quickly.

If you are having a problem with his staff that took 7 months to clear up then maybe you should have talked to Dr. Todd himself, I am not saying its your fault but at some point you have to stand up and say "HEY, there is a problem here and MY Care is being comprimised". also as a supervisor of people I would definatly want to know if my staff were not following my guidance so that my customers would have a positive experience. I understand your being frustrated, it just wasnt our experience. I truly feel bad for you about that, but I do believed that Dr. Todd should know about the situation and that you are disgruntled about the whole experience because of his staff.
