Anyone have their surgery at Elmendorf AFB??

Hi, I was just wondering if there was anyone who has went through Elmendorf AFB for their surgery? I was just referred there from my PCP here at Eielson. There isn't much about the Dr.s on this site, so I just wanted some reviews. I'm worried the whole process is going to take 10x longer because its through the Military. I'm not sure why I was referred to them and not a civilian Dr. like a lot of ladies I know here at Eielson, but Oh well. Hopefully it turns out for the best! Thanks in advance for you help! :)

 I live on Fort Richardson and i just had my surgery Aug 30. i got referred out to a civilian dr. (Dr. Searles) and had my surgery at Alaska Regional in Anchorage. Ive never heard of them doing the surgery on Elmendorf. I got approved for the surgery with in one day. so it does go really fast. believe it or not. 

 I just received my referral recently, and although it is for a civilian doctor, it says on the bottom that you can check the TriCare website to see which doctors are covered by them and you can make an appointment to see any of those without having to call for another referral. So, make sure you read the "fine print" on your referral and you may not have to get it done on base if you prefer not to. Hopefully that holds true for you as well.
