Is there a support group meeting in Anchorage or this immediate area? I am two years post op and did well for a long time but think that if I don't pull myself together I will put the weight back on. My surgeon has left town, as has my Angel and so I haven't had any nutritional counceling and need it now.
If there's anything going on locally, I sure could use some help.

Good Luck tomorrow !! I am excited for you. I have never regretted the surgery. do you have support around you? I did well for a long time without support but think, if I am going to keep the weight off, I need to think about it and perhaps get some support to get into a gym somewhere.
I need exercise but am not sure how to go about that (fear of flying !!!)
Again...good luck. Keep in touch.

Thanks so much! My surgery went very well, and I'm already home again. I think I'm doing pretty good, right noow I'm focusing on the fluids and they've got me on the pureeds, so doing what I can there.
My husband is amazing support. He's military, so I have the nutritionst on base and the doctor that actually put this idea in my head. :) And this website, of course. I've been more of a lurker than a poster, but I'm working on trying to change that.
I think the support is important too. I hope to meet with my nutritionsit here in the next couple of weeks, and I'll ask her if she's heard of any groups local to the Anchorage area. If not, I don't mind being there for you. I'm a complete newbie to all this, but sometimes all you need is an understanding ear and a pat on the back.
Good luck to you as well, and holler if you need a hand! :)

Sorry to butt in but was the port not stitched because of Doc Searles? My port flipped about 6 months ago and he refuses to fix it despite the fact that it is causing me pain and creating a HUGE lmp under my skin. You can actually see the thing under my clothes! Just wondering if this was a common issue with him....

I'm not sure if Dr. Todd welcomes Doc Searles patients to his support group meetings, but it might be worth a phone call if you are in need! Here is a link to his Support Group page with all of the dates times and topics and his contact info is at the bottom.
