Okay. I'm new to this and I have a very good question. Since I'm a military spouse and I am 16 months post-op. I was wondering is there a bariatric surgeon up there? I'm wondering because I'm kind of nervous about being denied to go with my husband. I've been cleared by EFMP here at Fort Bragg and they said that I shouldn't have any problems going up there but I'm curious and worried. Please anything to ease my fears some? Granted, I was told that I can just see a PCM and I will be okay. Thank you in advance! =)

There are bariatric surgeons here, but they are in Anchorage, seeing a primary care provider will do just fine. when you get here come on out to our support group meetings on the 2nd wednesday of the month at the fairbanks cancer treatment center. If your only issue is the bariatric surgery there is no reason to be denied coming to Alaska or being in the EFMP program, really, you will do well and there should be no issues.

Thank you so much. I haven't had any problems with the surgery I had. I had the roux n y. I'm just nervous that the EFMP there would tell me no for some odd reason. I guess it's because I got denied before but that was prior to my surgery. Thank you so much. I will continue to pray that I am able to go up there. It will be my second time going up there since the first time was when I was a little kid. =)

Oh yeah. I'm still on the EFMP list but only for the gastric bypass and it is stating that I need to follow up with PCM but I guess if issues arises that I will need to see a specialist but by the time, and if I do go up there, I will be hitting my two year mark. YAY!

if you havent had any problems then there is no reason to see a specialist, We have many military people in our support group and no one has said anything about being in the EFMP program so I dont believe it will be an issue. there should be no reason you couldnt PCS to Alaska.
