We made it Fairbanks!!!!!!

Hi!  We made it to Fairbanks on Super Bowl Sunday.  I won't lie, the first two days here, I cried.  I have such an awesome group of friends I left behind and it was all really tough.

I did get to meet someone from this site....but I hope to meet more. I want to make it to the next support meeting.  Is it next week???? And I have a question...Are there ANY bariatric surgeons here????  I would hate to have to rush down to Anc. if something were to suddenly go bad. So an update...I am not quite 8 months out and have lost 165 lbs.  I am getting small...but I have another 45 to lose!  I know I can do it!!  :) Ok...hit me up....I am always up for getting together!

Welcome to Fairbanks!  I am an Engineers wife and about to have LapBand surgery, just waiting on final Tri-Care approval.  As far as I know  (been here since 03) there are no bariatric surgeons here in Fairbanks but there is someone that deals with complications at FMH, they won't touch you at Bassett (not that you'd want them to )  Congrats on your weight loss, that is amazing!  I bet you feel like a million bucks!  I'm a SAHM but love to go out occasionally.  Feel free to holler at me any time! John Mayer did my daughter's surgery 2 years ago. She really liked him; his wife is also a GP. He may be able to help you if you need any help.

Also Jessica Miller at Interior Community, she is a PA but is also a wls rny patient herself. My surgeon is considering using jessica as her back up support here in fairbanks to oversee her patients....she is a good PA...supportive and imformative and knows all about poss complications etc... teri
