NEED ADVICE- My Diabetes is returning
I am about 14 months out and had this surgery (R-N-Y) not only to lose weight but to resolve uncontrollable high blood sugars of about 3 years duration. I had been in clinical trials for new diabetic drugs including Byetta before it was approved, and nothing would bring my sugars down. I went on a 30-hour-fast as a test and my sugars did not fall below 200. After the surgery, my meds were cut from 7 to two and I was able to leave behind the ones bringsing the worst side effect with them. About 4 months I hit a weight plateau and my sugars started to go back up. My diet structure did not change substantially and I even cut back when I reached the plateau. Glucose values had been 130-150 consistently, but now bounce between 130-210. Diet alterations and increased excercise have had almost no effect. My weight is stabalized, but I still need to lose about another 30 pounds. HAVE ANY OF YOU HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE? If so, please let me know if you found a way to jump-start the weight loss, what your surgeon had to say about the reversal, and what success you had at reducing the sugar values. Any information concerning your similar experience would be appreciated!
