The Bariatric Sisterhood, a secret group on FB for women only, has a group with meetings in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary. You can look for me, Tempestt Smith and I can add you, if you give me some info about your journey. They do vet members, so you'll get a message, possibly in your "other" folder, asking you questions from the admin.

I think we should definitely do that if there isn't one already. We should hold fire for a short while in case there is a running group but if we hear nothing in a few days (as this board doesn't get many views) we should go ahead!

Maybe we should start one?! Lol it might be a group of two to being with. But I bet it would grow pretty quickly!

I don't know of an existing one but I'd be interested if we had enough people. I'm in the Edmonton group on Facebook and I've seen mention of people posting to the Calgary group, but as yet I haven't found it. The Edmonton people seem to meet up semi regularly and I can imagine the support is worth any effort put in, this journey can feel a little lonely at times and to discuss it with people going through the same thing.... well I can only imagine it would be a good thing.

I was only thinking this weekend that we need a Calgary specific group and was mulling over whether it would be worth starting one, great minds think alike and all that.

Hi!

I am looking for a support group in Calgary. If there isn't one, are there enough of us to start one?

Thanks!

It depends how much stuff they have to test. At RAH they showed a video to the whole group, then took you aside and did the usual, heart rate, blood pressure, blood work, then they did a breathing test for me, some have other stress tests, I think or ECG and give you info about the surgery day.

Topic: RE: Seeing Dr DeGara....anyone else see him

Hope you had better luck than I did today. Had me going for over a year. Did eerything he told me to do even more. Saw all diaticians, phsyc etc, then today weigh i*****ined 4 pounds says he refuses to do surgery because I didn't follow staff orders or get along with all staff. In other qwords if you don't kiss their asses they won't do anything for you. Says for me to go to Mexico to get surgery because he is my last hope in all Alberta. I work HARD to do above and beyond. and this is what I get from a surgeon who won't fix what his colleague screwed up on me. I have a slow bleed now because of a screw up and he treats me like I am **** I am beyond spitting nails...I am heart broken beyond belief. I don't know what to do now.

Hi I am looking for a Facebook group either in Calgary or Red Deer. I want to find a secret group so that it isn't shown On my Facebook. I am not comfortable putting my name out here, but would be willing to PM someone.

I live in Calgary, but am going to the Red deer clinic. I am hoping to meet with my surgeon in March and have the VS sometime this year.
