Just wondering what they all go through during the 1st meeting with Dr Karmali
My husband is coming with me..... but I would like my mom to go also since she will probably be the one caring for me after while my husband works away. She is not the most excited about the whole surgery idea, and is trying to get out of going...... wondering how important it is for her to hear the info first hand........ don't want to insist and then she think it was pointless to go..... trying to avoid a lecture later lol
Thanks
I had Dr Karmali for my RNY in October 2011. I was cleared for surgery August 5th 2011 and had my surgery October 25th 2011....... honestly do not remember when I got the call..... Teenuh would however.....lol.... we got calls the same day :)
the 9th is his next OR date....his second one for Dec fell through xmas break and they dont book the OR during then she said...dont know how much of it is true....but thats what she said...
I probably couldnt do an earlier date now...i needed it to be a set date and we'd work around it organizing and shuffling everyone... its that part thats the biggest pain for me....i can figure myself out and get over the dissapointment of waiting another month but the pain in the ass its caused for my daycare families is just frustrating when they've been so understanding so far about my monthly appts etc
I would call back again and ask to be on the cancellation list...just in case.
I'm so so so sorry about the butterfly effect that this caused. Don't let Dr. Birch's screw-up affect your decision to have surgery - you decided to do it. You know why...stick with those reasons and keep remembering them. I have had a few really down days lately - all due to my appt with Birch on Monday. But I have to keep reminding myself that yeah, I had surgery but I rocked my surgery and the weight-loss is because of me....not only the surgery and Birch can pretty much put a sock in it. And I understand the going out for beers thing. I actually just told a friend yesterday that I wanted to go get smashed...ha.
And I'm happy you are taking off 6 weeks. I only took off 2 weeks but ended up not going back to work for almost 2 months. Then with my last surgery, I only took off 1 week and I needed at least 2. But work wouldn't allow it. :-( Take off as much as you can! You can always go back earlier if you want but taking off more time always seems harder. At least to me.
I was originally going to take 2 weeks off but Dr Birch convinced me into 4 (he wanted 6) and then when i got my first date i was able to squeeze 6 off because of xmas...
but with this new date i almost felt guilty taking 6....but figured why not....so 6 it is...
jan 9 is my new date and i'll go back on feb 14
we don't have any kiddos of our own yet, but i run a dayhome so thats the biggest reason for taking so long off...
yes financially its a big pain in the butt....but thankfully for us its Christmas Craft sale season and I make home made wooden signs....so i've been busy with that and have a bit saved from my shows and have one more huge show to do next weekend so that shoudl carry us through....thankfully...

I feel so bad for you. It's such a disappointment when **** like this happens. Stay strong and try not to over stress about it. I know financially it's a burden but trust me you'll save so much money on food cause you won't be able to eat more than a couple of bites that you won't even notice the lost income. How long were you planning to take off. Everyone heals differently but it took me 7 weeks to feel even somewhat able to do anything. On days that I thought things were good I would take a shower and get ready to go out and seriously have to have a nap first cause I would get exhausted so easily. Lucky for me i only had me to worry about.
chin up girl, it'll all work out.
Kee.

Gall Bladder surgery April 12,2012
You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't. Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened. My Surgery was September 21/2010
I asked if there was anything earlier and she said no....
this has really screwed us financially....
3 of my daycare families are going with the plans they created for december originally and not keeping their kiddos here...so thats 3 x $600
plus i'm out for January and half of feb 6 x $900 (month and a half childcare)....
plus the one gramma is coming back up from BC to watch her grandson in Jan....this has caused such a butterfly effect for me its just sickening...i actually went out for a few beers last night with a friend to talk it out and figure out wtf....
i had said no more drinking after my bday (nov 10) because of surgery....i had my head wrapped around xmas dinner being yogurt, i had plans to not spend to far away from home, i had cleaning ladies lined up for the house, people lines up to watch our place while we were in Edmonton....and so on and so forth....
if he backs out again...i'm taking it as a sign i shouldnt have this surgery....
OUCH!! Can you call Ashika (Dr. Birch's secretary) and see if they can get you in EARLIER than December 5? Instead of postponing, what about bumping it up?
And I agree - something is up with Dr. Birch lately. I had a follow-up appt on Monday. While he was great when I need to see him in a emergency and he squeezed me in to see him at his clinic, my appt with Monday - I left more than disappointed. I was ready to cry..still am. It was my first appt post bypass surgery that I felt like that.
