I'm doing great.  Feel really good.  Haven't had any problems.  Once I was on soft foods there was no looking back.  It's been a crazy ride, I'm down 60lbs in the five months from surgery, I lost 55lbs before surgery.

Topic: Success story

Before and during my weight loss journey I looked for stories of others who had taken the same road I had. It

was so encouraging to hear the ups and downs as well as the milestones reached. I promised myself I would

help others behind me just starting their journey. I have kept that promise by encouraging others who I met just

starting out. We share a common bond.

Just recently I started a blog and posted my success story. http://mymountainmatrix.com/weight-loss-journey/

I hope you will take the time to read it and pass it on to others who might need a lift.

Everyone has a different journey but its important to me to make a difference.

Thanks for you time.

Hi Tara,

How are you doing with everything? I'm having a sleeve done next month. I'm trying to make sure I have all of my ducks in a row.

Any advice?

Thanks!! :)

Hi Simplycin,

My group orientation was March 4, 2014, and my original referral was from August of 2013. My first nurse appointment was March 19, 2015, Gastroscopy in August, 2014, then ended up being on hold for months due to medication changes causing problems.

I was approved for surgery in May of this year, and I'm scheduled for January 2016 for the actual surgery.

If not for the medication causing issues, I would have likely had surgery much earlier this year. All in all, it'll be a total of just under 2 years in my case, but I think the norm seems to be more within the 16 - 18 month range from orientation to surgery.

I hope that helps, and if you have any questions, please let me know. :)

I had my assessment with Dr. Birch on June 1 and do not have any issues that need to be dealt with prior to surgery and am told that it will be at least a year until I get a surgery date.

Just curious for the Edmonton clinic.  Once you had your assessment by the surgeon how long was it before you were booked for surgery?
