awesome thank you
i knew it was supposed to be long, hubby is coming with me so should help me from being too bored lol...hopefully!
thanks!
Occasionally, I add a little PB2 and/or a quarter of a banana. Thanks for the Pure Protein vanilla tip. My local Walmart didn't have any but are ordering it in for me to try :). At 100 cals for 21 grams of protein, I'm thinking I could drink 1.5 and get the same amount of protein and cals as with the Premier brand. A whole lot more expensive though, so it's something I will likely use sparingly if it works out :).

Preadmission is a long process. It can take up to 4 hours so bring a snack and a book. They first have your watch a video which is about 30 or so minutes long. You then get weight charted and your height and put into a room of your own. You will have a nurse, anesthesia dr visit, an ekg done, lab work done, god it's been so long i forget. But trust me it's a busy busy day.
Good Luck.

Hi all
my surgery is in less than 2 weeks on Jan 9th
my PAC day is on Jan 7th
what sort of things do they do there? anything i should know?
I seriously love the protein amount in those and the price is good.
To give yourself a change, Pure Protein shakes are pretty decent, although lower in protein that the ones available in the US, the ones here have 21 grams of protein and 100 calories in the vanilla and they taste reasonable. (And no fussing from Mr Picky) I find them at Walmart and SuperStore in 4-packs.
If you can afford the calories I really like Diabetic Boost - especially the vanilla, which I heat up, then make a cup of strong coffee or tea (spiced chai or Earl Grey) into. (We use a Keurig) It makes a delicious latte at 190 calories and 16g protein. I find it quite filling, too, and can easily last until lunch if I have that for breakfast.
I don't recommend the ever popular (snork) Ensure for 2 reasons. 1. It's way too low in protein for the calories, and 2. I can't get the stupid lids off! Why anyone would make a meal replacement that is targeted toward thie elderly and nutritionally/physically compromised and put it in a bottle that close to impossible to open is beyond me.

Could not agree more with Nicole79
I just saw the surgeon in the Edmonton Program...... they only do laparoscopic surgery for all the surgeries (RNY,Sleeve, Band) but with the understanding that if there is complications like severe bleeding that they can't control they may have to open you up fully
If the surgeon only does open surgery I would find a new surgeon!!
That level of thickness is way off. I would describe the right consistency as identical to 2% chocolate milk. And most folks say the taste is almost identical. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of chocolate flavored drinks, so that's why I would live to get my hands on some vanilla!

Again, Im from Edmonton so I cant speak on wait times and the types of surgeries offered down there. However, I can not urge you enough NOT to do an open surgery unless there is no other way. Open surgeries place much greater stress on your body and you are at a SIGNIFICANT higher risk for infections and complications. I am not even aware that any Dr. would do such a surgery unless it was medically needed over the scop. I have no idea why one surgery would have a shorter wait list? That dosn't really make any logic as the open surgery would take longer and be more complicated surgically speaking than a scop. Please please please do research and DO NOT opt for an open surgery unless there is no other way.

There would be no weight restrictions on getting into the clinic. They would work with you until they found that you are a safe weight to be a canidate for surgery. Being approved for surgery has a lot of components.
The texture of the ones I got was weird. I had to cut the entire top off and it would kinda sploop into the glass, holding enough of the shape of the container to see seam lines.
I got cases of the shakes a couple of times. The first case was ok - poured just fine - not especially exciting flavour wise, but not awful. The second and third cases were that weird texture, so I've been too chicken to try them again.
