A basic reduction is covered by AHS, if a lift is required you will have to pay for that yourself unless your plastic surgeon is willing to do it at no extra cost.
There are plenty of doctors in the Edmonton area that do breast reduction, if you use google you will find several clinic with certified doctors. I have not had any first hand experience with any of them and as far as I know from friend that had it done you need to have a referral from your family doctor stating why a reduction is medically needed for AHS to cover it and of course your plastic surgeon needs to deem it fit as well.
Good Luck.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't. Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened. My Surgery was September 21/2010
Ok, I just. Added June 24 to my note pad of questions to ask him. Haha, if he does 2 or 3 a day maybe I could get in for that date! And we can suffer together ( if we don't chicken out first)

I made the decision my self . My doctor had no clue so I did all the research myself and I gave everything I had to him and then he sent my referral to the clinic in Red Deer :) Make sure you do your research before hand. Makes it a lot easier.
I'm moving from Quebec to Alberta
I know that Quebec covers this surgery, but have no idea about Alberta,
does any one knows if breast reduction is covered by Alberta Health service?
if yes, how should I apply for it and how long should I wait?
if no, how much it is approximately , and does any one know about any doctor doing that in Edmonton?
Thanks!
Awesome MissCalla! You will have to tell me how it goes. Maybe you will ask some questions that I didn't think to ask. My date is June 24th.

I know Dr. Nohr has done a lot of pannis over the years. People I have talked to who have had them done seem to be happy with his work. I just can't spend money out of pocket on plastics. All I will ever have done is the panni. I trust Dr. Nohr. He has experience with the wls person's post op stomach. I don't believe he does substandard work at all but maybe since he doesn't do the additional lipo, it won't be as perfect as a plastic surgeon's work. I am okay with that. He has brought me this far with success, I trust him to finish off things with success as well.
This Dr. Toy seems like a great choice though since he has knowledge of the wls post body as well as a specialty in plastics. From what I hear he is hard to get into if you didn't go through the Weight Wise program.
Anyways, good luck with all your future planned reconstructive surgeries. May you heal well! :-)

Thank you to everyone for you responses. It's hard to be patient now that I've made the decision to have the surgery. I'd like to have it done sooner rather than later but I see the right steps need to be taken in the right order.
One more question - did you decide where you wanted to go or did AHS decide for you? I'm ok to go to Edm, RD and not just Calgary - should I tell this to AHS? Thanks!
I also live in Calgary and I am in the program at the Red Deer Clinic. They have a fantastic program and the nurses and doctors are also great .Plus it is closer than Edmonton :0).
I booked my appointment today for April 5 with dr Nohr to ask about panni. Maybe I can book mine end of June and we can be room mates!

I have heard good things about the Plastic Surgeon in Camrose from the Nurses in Emergency that I am friends.... they say they hardly ever see her patients for complications or infections. I can't speak for her quality of work, but Camrose is not a big city, so if she wasn't good she would have no patients going to her I would think. Here is her info

but if you have surgery in the Weight Wise Program talk to them about Dr. Toy
