For sure! Did the doctor tell you how long you will be off work for? I think most people it sounds like are off for 4 weeks but I never even really thought to ask. I am having the RNY too.

I already warned her that I'll be harassing her to walk and drink.

Dr Aceves has a slow refeeding plan - she won't get anything approaching food for a couple of weeks. First she'll be drinking clear fluids, then a period of full fluids. She knows how important it is to follow her plan, and I know she'll do well.

Topic: RE: staircase weight loss?

Yes I need to stop weighing myself everyday....its just so tempting to see how I'm doing.

Glad to know others have the same sort of weight loss. Thanks for your input and advice.

I really appreciate it.

We have all been there. That is one of the reason why the clinic stresses not to be weighing yourself everyday. Even with weight loss surgery you can still have weigh fluctuations and actually even gain. Some of those gains may be water retention or due to hormones but it can still happen.

I  am now 28 months out from surgery and have to be very careful with my food choices and stick to a very low calorie diet or I will gain. I've been blessed to have had the surgery and lose the weight I have but I also work my butt off to keep the weight off. I was told to stop losing when I was in the 180 range and that didn't happen so now I have to work a little hard to not have rebound weight gain that the clinic preaches about. Definitely all worth it in the end.

Kee.

I wish I had booked more time off work. I still get nauseous when I eat certain foods. I am learning all over again what to eat. I am still on my liquid diet, cream soups now, but not all creams work.

Take extra time off. One week was not enough for me, and I work from home.

Topic: RE: Have given up on Calgary clinic

This is why I didn't even bother here. When it finally became my decision, I didn't want 6 months to a year between now and then. I have an eating disorder and I am morbidly obese, time is not on my side.

I made the decision Jan 25th to have the surgery and I am already home recovering. It cost me $6500USD, but I now have a second chance at life. I cannot wait!

I will submit to AHCIP and get back a cpl grand to pay it off, then claim the rest on my taxes next year, and get another grand to pay it off. By the time it is paid off, I should have lost about 100lbs.  Fair trade in my mind.

But, all the best to you and your endeavors. I hope Red Deer is the solution!

I am glad I had G2 gatorade. I was a water drinker before surgery, but after I can't stand it. Breaks my heart.

A small firm pillow push up against my tummy while sleeping felt good.

I am doing very well! I am recovering as planned. I hope everything is as good for your friend! Following the post op diet is the number 1 most important thing. No straying from it. Walking, get her to walk. She won't want to. Force her to walk, eat, and drink.

I had lap RNY done by Dr. Nohr back in October 2011.  I am from Lethbridge.  I have a panni booked with Dr. Nohr in June.  Excited and scared at the same time...Ugh!
