Topic: What about after weight loss?

I am so inspired by some of the success stories on here and I cannot wait to start my own journey.

I am interested in what people are doing with their "post weight loss bodies", the weight loss is obviously quicker than a "normal" diet so I would think there is an abundance of extra skin.... are tummy tucks or whatnot something people normally go with once the program is finished? What does something like that cost?

How come it takes so long to get an orientation date? 8 months from referral seems kinda crazy.

After your orientation you have to call the next day to book an appointment mine was 2.5 months after my orientation date. Then you meet your nurse then every month there after you have an appointment with the dietician, nurse, phycatrist and so on.  You have to loose 10% of your weight also.

Topic: Orientation Scheduled.

Hi All,

I went to my doctor last summer (I think august some time) and talked to him about wls and the red deer clinic. He sent in my referral and today I received a letter in the mail saying my orientation is set for April 15, 2016. So about 8 months from referral date to orientation.

Does anyone know what the next steps are? once I have gone through the orientation and we have decided to go ahead how long might it be before the surgery itself?

Hi

I was wondering if I could join your Facebook group. Had my first orientation in January, and my first appointment with the surgeon on March 30.

Can anyone elaborate on what the first appointment looks like with the surgeon? I've started tracking my food, and I exercise st least 3-5 days a week.

Thanks

Start your food journal now (I use MyFitnessPal), as this will give you a head start with one of the clinic's requirements and is SO important with helping you make changes to your eating habits.   I'm so grateful that I started this when I was referred last April, as by the time my first appointment came in December I had already lost 68lbs on my own.  I also spent every day here on ObesityHelp reading everything I could about the surgeries and people's experiences.  I felt so confident and prepared when I went to my appointment, that they told me I was actually about 6 months ahead of most people when they start with the clinic... so use this time to your advantage :)

Congratulation

I've been in the Edmonton Clinic for a year now and have learned so much from them.

Best of luck

Terry

Congratulations,

It is a long process but it will be worth it.  I read this forum religiously.  Weight loss for dummies is awesome.  I am having my first preoperative class in April.  Still about a year left so it does get frustrating but hang in there.
