I was the organizer of the December get together, bit there did not seem to be a will/need because nobody showed up! I haven't tried again, but do plan to host a Calgary gathering when Julia (wantmylife) makes her annual trek home in August. I'll extend a general invite a couple of weeks before then.

I don't have any health issues either and I have to do a 2 week liquid diet PLUS take a laxative the day before surgery (Dr. DeGara's rules). Each surgeon does it their own way as far as I understand.

I started August 2012. Surgery scheduled for April 16, 2013 which was then rescheduled to April 19 and then 8 days into my 2 week pre surgery liquid diet I was called and rescheduled to May 21st.

I'm a light weight too at 300lbs and 33 yr old..... under Dr Karmali...... I had a scope due to acid reflux for many many years, but sounds like he pretty much does the scope on everyone. He also does the 3 wk diet on everyone.
At first I didn't want to do either..... but the scope was super easy and I was nervous for no reason..... easiest test I have ever had to do.... seriously
The liquid diet I'm not looking forward to, but Dr Karmali's reason for doing it is #1 to shrink your liver so it moves out of the way for surgery (like detoxing it)... and #2 so that your body and mind are use to eating a liquid diet, he thinks people have an easier time especially with the emotional part of having no "real" food better if they go through the motions pre surgery, and no solid food in your bowel during and post surgery.
I completely agree with him as much as its going to suck to do it lol :(
I would recommend that if you don't do a liquid diet, that you eat very simple the day before surgery..... as you don't want your "last supper" meal of steak and lobster sitting in your bowel post surgery and you can't pu**** out lol

I had the same problem I had to phone through google it's a free service. Shipping is the same and they ship to canada but if their is any duty you must pay. When I ordered them last time I didn't pay any duty.
