I was booked for mine in early December of last yr and had mine Mid February
Hi everyone,
I'm to the point within the Red Deer clinic that the only "required" appointments I have left is the psych evaluation and the gastroscopy. I received a call from my surgeon's office today saying I have been put on the list to be scheduled for the gastroscopy, and the would call me with that appointment in a FEW MONTHS. I asked her if there's a cancelation list I can be put on and she said they've already put me on it.
So...how long did you have to wait for this procedure and then how much longer after that did you finally get your surgery?
Thanks!
Id be looking at the Good Life Fitness in Mckenzie as its awesome!! I would be looking for evenings after 8ish and weekend mornings... anyone want to come take a few classes?
I recommend calling your benefit provider. Sometimes it's as easy as getting a prescription from your doc!
Thru my job, and blue cross we have what is called a wellness account, that is separate from a health spending account. The wellness account covers things like vitamins, running shoes, etc. all I have to do is print off a wellness account form, fill it out including my receipts and then blue cross direct deposits the reimbursement to my bank account.

The nutritionist recomended going on high protein boost or ensure she also said that it could be covered under some health benifit plans. I was wondering if anyone here has had them covered and if so what did you have to do?

I loved the pre-op liquid diet, no decisions to make about what to eat or how much, it has left me free to prepare myself in other ways. I didn't like the flavor of the Ensure but I purchased some sugar-free Cinnamon Doluce (spelling) coffee flavoring from Starbucks and added a couple of squirts to the vanilla and chocolate and they tasted great, even after approx 3 weeks they still taste good to me (and this is my second time on the fast, first started the end of January and two weeks into the fast had to cancel surgery as I had an accident). The only tough part I found was not "tasting" my cooking, having to go on instinct, and smell, and some of the smells made me want to have some but was never stressed about not being able to.
Well I am new to this forum, as of today! I just found you, and my surgery is slated for tomorrow, June 21st @ 10:30. It has been a long journey to get to this point and I am glad that I can now move on to another phase.
My Dr. is Dr Karmali and I had to have a scope and a 21 day fast, although my surgery was moved ahead 2 days so am only doing/did a 19 day fast and this tada is Day 19.
Anyone else having surgery at the Alec tomorrow?

Thanks ! My original date would have been in late may however, I asked to wait until July because of my job. If I had my surgery in May it would have been about 11 months from my first apt. at the clinic. It really does vary though between people. If you comply with everything they ask you do to and they see you making lifestyle changes you will be through within a year. :) Good Luck :)
