Looks fantastic! You've done such an amazing job!
Yes, Dr Aceves did my VSG, and will be doing my hubby's in 11 days. I'm in Castledowns and would be delighted to meet you for coffee - perhaps one day next week?
No, I don't go to the support group meetings at the Alec, since they're pretty WW specific. (I used to go, when I was expecting to have surgery here) Instead, a friend (who also went to Dr Aceves) and I meet at the Skyview Starbucks about once a month and are each other's "support group."
I'll send you a private message on here with my cell#. I'm not big on talking on the phone, but do text a lot.

I don't know how far out you are, but I am 3 months.
I eat normal foods. I do eat clean tho. I often will make this for breakfast:
1/4 simply egg whites, slices of diced turkey bacon and 1.5oz of light cheddar cheese, I make it into a scramble. That is easy for me to eat.
I often have either a protein bar (Questbar) or a protein shake for lunch.
For dinner, fish, crab cakes, steak, chicken breast, tuna, etc with some asparagus or broccoli.
I basically don't eat rice, potato or pasta often.
I like a lot of recipes from emilybites.com
I use wonton wrappers in my cupcake fill it with various things. I make tuna melts in there, chicken enchiladas, tacos, roast beef with cheese.

I had my surgery on the 19th and stayed a couple of days extra and flew home on the 23rd. I flew with ease. I wore drawstring pants, I did let the airline know in advance, I was going to use a wheelchair but really the walking helps. I only had to fly from San Diego to Vancouver and then to Calgary. I was fine on both flights.
1 year and 4 months after my RNY with Dr Nohr in Medicine Hat, I had my fleur de lis panniculectomy. I had it 2 weeks ago and so far have had a great recovery and seriously LOVE my new flat belly! I am so pleased with the results of both my RNY, and the skin removal surgeries by him. When he was discharging me from the hospital on May 18th, I said to him, Dr. Nohr, I just really want you to know how grateful and thankful I am to you for doing my RNY and now this "tummy tuck". You have changed my life! He is so humble and said, no, you have done all the hard work, all I did was give you a tool to help you get there!

There are a few things to remember.
Surgery is just a tool to control your eating. It is still up to you to eat right and exercise. You have complete control over how much you lose and your health. If you want to be scary thin, you will make that happen. If you don't, you won't.
Surgery doesn't fix all the emotional/mental baggage. Again, back to it being a tool. Some folks change one eating obsession for one exercising obsession. Some folks don't change their eating, and don't lose well. Some folks take it too far. I suggest getting emotional support by someone who specializes in food disorders if you find yourself one way or the other.
Your story is your story, their story is theirs. No two people are a like.
I think you need to stop and think for yourself and where you see your self 10 yrs from now. FOR ME, that was a wheelchair, possibly dead. I hit 321lbs and couldn't walk, sleep or be intimate with my husband. There was NO quality of life for me then. I had surgery in February, in total I have lost 60lbs and now I can run on my treadmill for 13 minutes straight!
Only you can make the choice for you. Don't let friends, family, spouses, etc sway you. You might just need to be selfish for this. Its always better to have support, and I hope you have that.
How did you find travelling after surgery ?
Thanks
