Topic: SIGNED MY CONSENT FORM TO HAVE THE SLEEVE DONE IN CALGARY

I  am a mixture of scared and excited about the prospect of getting the sleeve done in Calgary this summer.  I had the lap band done 2 years ago but it had to be removed in December due to complications.

I am so scared of the sleeve failing as well.  :(

Anyone in Calgary gone the sleeve route?  I am new to this board and would love some feedback about the sleeve.

Has anyone had the sleeve DONE in Calgary?

Anyone had to have their lap band removed?  I am feeling quite down about it because I know so many people have had great success with it but  after 18 months of constant vomiting they decided it had to come out. So glad they removed it.  Now I am a little scared to try the sleeve  but I reaize that the option of doing nothing is worse than the risks of getting the sleeve done!

Any feedback would be so appreciated.  Thank you so much.

Topic: RE: Finding a doctor for post op I'm Calgary, going to Mexico for surgery
My family doctor does what little aftercare I need. When I had my surgery in Mexicali I talked to my GP first to make sure he had my back. He was worried that I'd be in pain on the way home, so prescribed Tylenol 3 (100 of them!) which I never used because by the time I was discharged from hospital I had no pain at all.

I developed a low grade UTI at about a month out, (drink your water!) which he caught and prescribed antibiotics for, but other than ticking a few extra places when running routine labs I've needed no other extra care at all.

My family doctor just takes care of my labs and follow up care. I had my Rny in Medicine Hat, and am from Calgary. Did you ask your family doctor ?

Thanks for all your comments. For anyone lurking, the comments are accurate around wait times.

I have a new question, how many classes after the Introduction to Bariatric Surgery? I forgot to ask the nurse.

Thanks.
