LONG long long waiting list. I have been waiting a year come May 18th for Edmonton and when I called 2 weeks ago was told another 6 months before she calls me with a date for a consultation then after the consultation date which could be another 6 months then another year before surgery...Have an appointment for Medicine Hat for January 2009. And that's just a consultation again...... So get ready for a long wait which you can do lots of research in the mean time, but if it were me I would put in my name right now at one or ALL of those doctors right now so your name is in there. But then if you are looking into the lapband and you can afford it, you can go to Ontario usually within 2 months or so but the cost is around $16,000.00, but then you would have to go back there for fills or find a doctor where you are that would do them. Type it in your search engine, I have never looked into going out of country for this surgery for fear of complications. But that's me kinda chicken s**t...lol I can't answer too much of your questions about the surgeries since I'm not there myself. But these websites should help you out some, since a few of those are people that had the surgery done already. What I do also just to get info I go the the USA websites just to check things out. Most of the action on here seems to go on in the monthly boards - look to the menu bar on the left and choose a month. There are also other boards to go to as well. There is one for western Canada and Edmonton has a board as well. Think Calgary has one too. Let us know what kind of info you need and the answers will come.
