Lap Band in Mexico
I am booked to have my lapband procedure in TJ Mexico with Dr Kuri. I have done a lot of research and I'm so thrilled with what I've learned about having surgery in Mexico. I Will of course keep people posted on my outcome as I also found it hard to find information for Canadians having it done out of country.
My procedure will cost me $5500 US and my flight with a companion was only just over a grand. I am privately paying for my surgery, however I did find that if you googled and researched there are surgery finance companies for Cdn's. I will fly to San Diego and the staff from the hospital will meet me at airport and will escort me over the border with my companion and take me straight to the hospital. I will stay there for 2 nights and then a near by hotel (they even booked me a suite and everything so I didn't have to call around) for 2 nights (just as a precaution before the flight back home) The surgeon also gave me a referral to a lady here in Calgary who will do my fills for a small fee. I feel very comfortable with my decission as they will also video tape my surgery and keep on file, so if by chance I needed any assistance, they will be able to forward that to any Dr. I may need to see.
I really looked at my options here, but what it comes down to is cost. I simply can not afford the procedure here in Canada or the USA. Its very unfortunate that considering obesity is an epedimic that they still don't make it something that can be accessed for all who do want to take charge and who need help doing so.
