Post-op from Ontario

HI,

I'm over a year out from my surgery. Holding steady at a good weight, very active, and eager to continue on the right path. I have just moved to southern Alberta from northern Ontario. As a post-op, can I transfer into the Alberta program so I can still be monitored? My former local bariatric clinic didn't know (they have told me I can call them if I need help, but it doesn't seem like a good long term solution).

Is there a support group in Lethbridge?

I had RNY in July 2014. It went well, but later I developed a stricture. It was not fun. Delayed my return to work & I was on liquids for months. It took 2 balloon treatments to fix the issue, but there were scheduling delays. I was finally able to start working solids in again by December. Nevertheless, I've had great success since & I don't regret the surgery as the weight loss has improved all aspects of my health, both physical & mental.

The closest bariatric clinic to you would be Medicine Hat, their phone number is 403-528-8152. Each clinic in Alberta is different, so just give them a call and they'll let you know the process for transferring from Ontario. There was a person on this forum a while back who said that worked for her when she moved from the east coast.

I'd also ask the clinic if they know of any support groups in your area, or you could try the Alberta Healthy Living Program (AHLP) as the Alberta Health website says there's group sessions for the Lethbridge area.
