Hello,

i've just recently moved to the area and have been strongly considering going down south for bariatric surgery. I don't know many people up here, and was wondering if others who were considering this method would like to create a small support group, perhaps get to know each other and travel together? Not sure if anyone would be interested in this, but i figure its worth a shot, and better then having to tackle this alone.

Hello,
I had my surgery with Dr Joya down south on March 18th. He and his team were amazing. I'm now down 48lbs since I began this journey. Weight loss is a little slower for me as I have PCOS. Good luck with deciding. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Myself and 2 other girlfriends went to Mexico in November and all had gastric sleeves done. One got the lapband removed and the sleeve done. Best thing I have ever done!! I recommend my Dr 100% to anyone that asks. I am down 103lbs, my one friend is down over 115 and I am not sure about the one that had the lapband removed, she has never said, but she looks amazing. I am now looking into plastics down there. Good luck!!

Just do it!

i seen lots of people that just went down and did it on their own. It's a piece of cake and you get treated very good!

i think anyone considering this should get it done in mexico

Hi Flankers,

I have been researching weight loss surgery in Mexico for the past two years. I finally was able to make the decision to go ahead with the procedure this year. I researched the Weight loss forever program out of Alberta and Sask. but after more research and price comparisons I decided to go with Specialized Bariatrics with Dr. Lopez in Puerto Vallarta for half of the costs that WLF was quoting. The reason for this is that I set everything up on my own, including my air fair and connecting with local doctors and dieticians in my home community. I do know that if you are looking at wanting to complete weight loss surgery though Alberta Health Services it can be a very lengthy process, I am currently partaking in that process right now, however I did not want to wait almost 2 years for the surgery its self and that is why I chose to go with surgery in Mexico.

Hello!!

I went down to Mexicali from San Diego for my sleeve.  I would also recommend anyone to go and get surgery over there.  Just make sure that doctors are certified and that the facilities meet standards just as you would do here in the U.S.  It's been almost 4 months and 45 pounds and couldn't be happier!  My pocket is also happy! lol
