Does anybody know how much notice you get before surgery?

Hi,

Just wondering how much notice the Edmonton weight wise clinic usually gives before surgery? Do you find out a month before or a couple weeks before? I was approved in April and haven't received a call yet for surgery.. It's difficult planning child care arrangements as I have no idea how much notice they give. Any info would be helpful. Thanks everyone!

I got 3 weeks notice but I think most people get 6 weeks notice.

If you do not have enough time to schedule childcare ask for a different date.  They would give you the next available date

I know several people that had been approved in April and are still waiting for a call. Usually you find out the month before. The booking are usually done around the first week of the month unless you get called on a cancelation. December they do fewer surgeries because of Christmas Holidays.

When my friend phoned Doctor Birches office she was told probably February. If Dr. Birch is you surgeon you could call his direct office and talk to his secretary, the weight wise clinic doesn't book your actual surgery so they wouldn't know. You have to call them and let them know when your surgery date is.

Thanks for the info Kee. Yeah I called her office a few weeks ago but she said dec or jan but I know she said She had a whole page of people waiting before me so perhaps it won't be closer till February. I was really hoping for December as my husband will be home to care for my kids and myself but I'm sure I would have gotten a date by now if it was going to be in December.like you said you usually get a months notice. ..oh well it's out of my control I'll just keep plugging along waiting..
