Hi there

I, too, was approved in April and am still waiting.  I had appointments on the 18th of September at the WW clinic and was told that those who'd been approved in February were receiving surgery.  Hope that helps some!

Hi,

I was also approved in April. I completely understand your frustration. I'm not sure who your surgeon is but I called Dr Birch's office and spoke with the lady who does the surgery booking. She said dec or jan. and the people approved in feb/mar were getting booked for oct/nov surgery dates. and that its closer to 8-9 month wait. Don't give up you are in the home stretch. Good luck

April referral for me too. I have this feeling I am going to have to do the liquid diet over Christmas/new years. I actually wouldn't mind so much, it will be a lot easier than worrying about gaining weight over the holidays. Would be pretty awesome to know someone else in the hospital if we were lucky enough to share a date. Please think about re posting on this thread when you guys do get the call btw, I have Birch as well

I have Dr. Birch as well.

1st one to get a call post the date and it will give us a good idea when our turn will come.

Do you guys mind if I ask how long the period between your initial appt at the we clinic and your surgery approval? Just trying to get an idea.

Hi there

Speaking for myself (and I believe I was faster rather than slower), I began going to the WW clinic in September, 2012 after completing all the Weight Wise modules. .  After meeting with my Case Worker I began to have regular appointments with her and the Dietician.  Before being approved I also had appointments with the Psychologist and Dr. Mody (I hope I spelled her name correctly).  At this point I had a chance to meet the surgeon's fellow who indicated I needed to have a barium X-ray and an endoscopy (due to GERD) before final approval--that added an additional month.  I was fortunate, though, that I wasn't required to do a sleep study which many are asked to do.

To sum it up, I began the WW modules in May, 2012 with my first appointment at the WW clinic in September, 2012 with final approval (being put on the waiting list) as of April, 2013.  I hope that is of some value to you.  Definitely not a quick process but there is a lot of value in it.  The modules were particularly informative and have helped me to significantly modify my eating habits.  It takes a lot of patience but I feel it has all been worthwhile.  I'm very grateful for the entire process but acknowledge eagerness to get on with things now.

Best of luck to you!

I got my first appointment in Sept 2012. Did all my modules, met with the various professionals at the clinic and met with my surgeon Dr Birch in April of 2013 which was when I was approved for my surgery. Can't wait for my date but the longer I wait the more time I have to think about the "what ifs" but I've decided fear is not going to discourage me. I know it's whats best for me. In the home stretch now and so excited for the future. Best of luck to everyone. Maybe some of us will be roommates haha. I'll repost when I get a date
