Weight Wise Referral!
Hi Melanie
Just had an appointment earlier today and I have a bit of a tip for you. You will be encouraged to begin making lifestyle changes when you begin to take the modules. There is a plethora of information as well as tips offered along the way. If you decide the timing is right for you and you are going to go at it, make sure you have weighed yourself at one of the health units or somewhere similar. ie. using a reliable medical scale
You will be asked your starting weight at your first Weight Wise appointment which is what will be used for the BMI calculation. I just happened to have done this or could have potentially been denied because of a low BMI. As it is, I have lost nearly ninety-five pounds since beginning the modules in May, 2012 with about twenty to thirty pounds to go.
I am very aware that I will not lose a ton more weight with WLS but am determined to keep off what I've lost. This has become my main reason for continuing to pursue this procedure. As it turns out, this may end up being the most difficult part of the journey for me--time will tell. Rest assured, though, that you cannot lose too much weight pre-op if you have been recorded with an eligible BMI (I specifically asked this question today.)
I hope this will be encouraging information for you.

I am so happy for you, that is an incredible amount of weight to lose all on your own! I completely identify with what you are saying about using the procedure as a tool to maintain. As a person who has lost and gained several hundred pounds (thank you dr.atkins), the idea of having that extra edge to help with maintainence would be like adding the missing piece of the puzzle.
I wish you every success and thank you so much for sharing!!
