Hi Jan,

Wonderful post back to me . . Thank you so much. I am going to spend some time at Popeye's on Wednesday. I called and yes, taste testing , buy back  must be a store policy.

I was heading to GNC but have decided with the perks of being able to taste it before buying is a "win win " situation for me.

The ugly word . . Carbs . . shivers as this is of course my weakness . . I have posted a question asking people about what worked for them this time out. I have a feeling that like most ( including yourself ) will advise me . . stay away from carbs. . In the past when I have tried to stay diligent and stay away from the carbs I have used the weigh****chers bread when I felt I needed a taste of a carb.

I also know that I have a higher success rate when I stay away from them all together. I have started to study all the alternatives to carbs that are used by many people who have been successful and continue to this day.

I will keep you updated as I go along. Thank you again !!!

Not a problem Lori.  I too occasionally crave a carb, but I do find if I keep the proteins up, over 100 g per day, I don't crave them as much.  I have found things like black bean tortilla chips from the health food store, so if I must have some carbs, these are better I believe.  Any simple sugar carbs are bad for you as they will cause carb cravings, so try at least to stay away from processed white flour crackers, breads, etc.  That being said, I occasionally eat a low carb/low cal bread available here.  40 cals and 9 carbs per slice,  so not too bad.  I go to a lot of sites that use celiac recipes as these are non flour recipes, so use quinoa flour, tapioca starch/flour, etc...  I try to limit my carbs to veggie carbs and research a number per day that seems doable to you.  Some say under 50 g per day.....but you need to make a decision I suppose.

There is a brand of tofu noodles out there - Shirataki noodles, available where you buy the blocks of tofu.  Not bad at all.  Just warm them slightly in warm water; don't need to boil them or they will go rubbery.  Not quite pasta, but damn close.  I find a lot of people that don't like to try substitutes because they expect the flavours to be 'exactly the same' as the originals, and that is a stretch for a lot things substituted!

Take care and keep me posted!
